The Reds placed Newman on the 10-day injured list Saturday with a left oblique strain (retroactive to Aug. 16).

Newman was previously on the injured list with an illness in late July, and now an oblique injury will force him out for at least another week. Top prospect Noelvi Marte was recalled from Triple-A Louisville in a corresponding move.
