Pirates sent LHP Aaron Thompson outright to Double-A Altoona. Thompson was designated for assignment last week to clear a spot for Chase d'Arnaud on the 40-man roster. The 24-year-old southpaw has a 4.97 ERA and 43/18 K/BB ratio over 67 innings at the Double-A level this season.
