Pirates purchased the contract of C Eric Fryer from Triple-A Indianapolis. Fryer will provide depth behind the plate for Pittsburgh while Rod Barajas recovers from a bruised left knee. The 26-year-old was batting .167/.220/.219 at Triple-A.
