Pirates GM Neal Huntington recently stated that Josh Harrison will take over starting second baseman duties following the departure of Neil Walker, the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review reports.
EDGE Analysis
Harrison compiled a career year in 2014 (.315/.347/.490 ) as a super utilityman, but fell off last year (.287/.327/.390) when he primarily played third base. The 28-year-old began his pro career as a second baseman in the Cubs organization but has made only 67 of his 333 big-league starts there. Harrison's new-found positional stabilty helps ensure regular playing time but he'll have to field well -- he made 17 errors in 2015 -- to keep his full-time gig. Prospect Alen Hanson looms on the horizon.
