Pirates avoided arbitration with 1B Garrett Jones by agreeing to a one-year, $4.5 million contract. Jones, 31, will get a raise from the $2.25 million he made last season. He was arbitration-eligible for the second time as a Super Two qualifier, and remains under team control through 2015.
