Pillar (thumb) was placed on the 15-day DL on Monday, Shi Davidi of Sportsnet reports.

Pillar jammed his thumb sliding into second base Saturday and was held out of action Sunday afternoon. While he's dealing only with a sprain, as opposed to a fracture, he'll miss at least the next two weeks, and team team recalled outfielder Darrell Ceciliani from Triple-A Buffalo to temporarily fill his spot on the roster. Ceciliani is in the lineup Monday, batting seventh and manning left field.
