Clippard earned the save Wednesday against Texas, allowing one hit and one walk with two strikeouts in his lone inning of work.
EDGE Analysis
Clippard was handed a 3-2 lead in the ninth inning and quickly struck out the first two batters before yielding a walk to Curtis Terry and a single to Charlie Culbertson. But Clippard got Jose Trevino to line out to end the game, pocketing his first save since the 2018 season. Joakim Soria, who has been operating as Arizona's closer, worked the eighth inning and faced the Rangers' 9-1-2-3 hitters, so Clippard's appearance doesn't necessarily represent a shift in roles. Clipped has spun three straight scoreless outings since missing the first four months with a shoulder injury.
