Phillips (groin) will start at second base and bat leadoff Sunday against the Cubs, MLB.com's Carrie Muskat reports. Phillips was limited to pinch-hit duties in the last two games after missing two in a row, but he'll return to his regular role for the Sunday evening contest against left-hander Jon Lester. His bat is much-needed in a struggling Cincinnati offense, as Phillips is hitting .375 to start the month of June, bringing his season average up to .305.
