Phillips (groin) was fine taking batting practice Friday but was left out of the lineup because he was gingerly taking ground balls, the Cincinnati Enquirer's John Fay reports. He will be available to pinch hit Friday, as hitting is not an issue for him currently. However, he won't be back in the starting lineup until he can defend his position without issue.
