Phegley, who notched his second RBI with a run-scoring single in Tuesday's Cactus League loss to the Rockies, is slashing just .214/.200/.286 over 14 at-bats this spring.
EDGE Analysis
The reserve catcher has just three hits in 14 at-bats thus far, including a double, along with two runs. Phegley has also whiffed six times, so contact has certainly been a problem in the early going. The 29-year-old lost 10 pounds over the offseason and appears fully recovered from the knee synovitis that curtailed his 2016 campaign. However, he figures to see modest playing time once again in the short side of a platoon with Stephen Vogt in 2017, likely seeing the bulk of his playing time against southpaws.
