Phegley (knee) was transferred to the 60-day disabled list Sunday.

EDGE Analysis

Phegley had began to take batting practice a few weeks ago, but the A's evidently determined that the catcher wasn't progressing as quickly as anticipated, making a return to the big club out of the cards in the near future. Since his DL stint is retroactive to July 1, Phegley won't be able to eligible to rejoin the A's until September. In the meantime, Bruce Maxwell will continue to work as the backup catcher behind Stephen Vogt.
