The A's receive some much-needed depth behind the plate Friday with Phegley's return from an inflamed right knee. He'll serve as Stephen Vogt's backup behind the plate, but his presence could result in manager Bob Melvin using Vogt instead of Yonder Alonso at first base on occasion. The A's optioned Matt McBride in a corresponding move Friday.
