Peavy could be in line for shorter outings in 2016, CSN Bay Area reports.
EDGE Analysis
With the Giants bolstering their rotation with Johnny Cueto (212 innings in 2015) and Jeff Samardzija (214 innings in 2015), they will not need Peavy to eat innings the way he did last season. They will theoretically have fresher bullpens when his turn comes in the rotation. Despite having a 3.58 ERA, Peavy posted a 2.43 ERA through the first five innings. Manager Bruce Bochy will look to get him out of games before he gets in trouble. If this plan comes to fruition, Peavy will take a hit in terms of volume statistics (strikeouts and wins), but should have improved ratios. He is currently slated to be the Giants' fourth starter.
