Peavy (back) threw 50 pitches in a bullpen session Tuesday and is slated to throw another bullpen session Thursday, Andrew Baggarly of the San Jose Mercury News reports. The next step in Peavy's recovery will facing live batters in extended spring training. He threw his first bullpen Friday since landing on the DL and has not reported any setbacks. If all goes well at extended spring training, the next step for Peavy will be a rehab assignment.
