Pearce had received starts in left field in three of the last four games -- including two nods against right-handed pitchers -- but after going 2-for-9 in those contests, he'll head back to the bench while Ezequiel Carrera rejoins the lineup. The two players are expected to remain in a timeshare until Pearce, who has yet to homer in 57 plate appearances this season, starts to flash the power he exhibited with the Orioles and Rays the past three years.
