Pearce has been dealing with some elbow tendinitis recently and Tampa Bay is choosing to give the first basemen the night off. The issue does not seem to be serious, however, as the Rays said that the 33-year-old would be available to pinch-hit and play first base. With inter-league play in full-swing and the DH position not available, Pearce is projected to get the next few days off and will likely return to the lineup when Tampa Bay returns home on Friday for a series with Houston.
