Evidently, the cortisone shot Pearce received is already taking effect, as he reported feeling better Tuesday and is confident he will avoid the DL. The 33-year-old Pearce figures to play primarily against lefties upon his return but should also see occasional starts against opposing right-handers. He has more than held his own against right-handers this year (.810 OPS) but the O's have Chris Davis and Pedro Alvarez locked into regular roles.
