Paxton (5-0) gave up three earned runs on five hits, three walks and two wild pitches over five innings in Tuesday's 12-3 win over the Twins. He struck out four.
EDGE Analysis
Although he was less than sharp, the current de facto ace of the Mariners' rotation was able to notch his fifth victory in thanks in part to some robust run support. Paxton gave up his first home run of the season to Brian Dozier in the fourth, while the three earned runs he surrendered were his second-highest total of the season. Control problems led to 96 pitches over just five frames, an early exit and Paxton issuing multiple free passes for the second time in the last three starts. He'll look to turn in a more efficient performance when he takes on the Blue Jays next Sunday.
