Paul Maholm allowed just four hits over 8 1/3 innings Friday in a 4-0 win over the Astros. If it was 5-0 or 6-0, Maholm probably would have gotten to go for his fourth career shutout. As it was, manager Dale Sveum opted to make the switch after Maholm allowed a single and a double in the ninth. The lefty was at a mere 98 pitches, so that wasn't the issue. Fortunately, Carlos Marmol got the job done after taking over, giving Maholm his first win since May 9. He's 5-6 with a 4.84 ERA.
