Dioner Navarro is likely headed elsewhere, so the Cubs believe that Suzuki could serve as a mentor for Welington Castillo. The 30-year-old backstop batted .232/.290/.337 with five home runs and 32 RBI over 316 plate appearances this season between the Nationals and Athletics.
