Pache's chances of making his big-league debut in 2020 improved when Nick Markakis opted out of playing this season, David O'Brien of The Athletic reports.
EDGE Analysis
Atlanta still has decent outfield depth with Ronald Acuna and Ender Inciarte locked into regular roles and Marcell Ozuna, Adam Duvall, Austin Riley and Charlie Culberson available to split time in left field and at DH, but Pache's defensive wizardry in center field could allow him to push his way into the mix, particularly if Inciarte struggles again or has trouble staying healthy. The 21-year-old Pache also slashed a combined .277/.340/.462 in 130 games between Double-A and Triple-A last season, but his bat is still considered a work in progress.
