Padres optioned OF Kyle Blanks to Triple-A Tuscon. Blanks has posted a decent .273/.362/.434 batting line in 116 plate appearances this season in the major leagues, but the Padres needed to clear a spot for Cameron Maybin. Blanks should be back up in a couple of weeks.
