Padres manager Bud Black said Tuesday that Clayton Richard (shoulder) is "not anywhere near close to talking about" returning. Richard has been sidelined since early July with a left shoulder strain. He played catch Tuesday for the third time in five days, but has yet to throw from a mound. There's no current timetable for his return. The 27-year-old southpaw had a 3.88 ERA and 53/38 K/BB ratio over 99 2/3 innings prior to the injury.
