Padres general manager Josh Byrnes indicated that Kyle Blanks could be called up to the majors as soon as Monday. Blanks is batting .265 with nine home runs and a 1.014 OPS through 27 games in Triple-A, big numbers for a team starved for any kind of offense. Yonder Alonso is off to a miserable start this season and could find himself losing playing time at first base.
