Padres avoided arbitration with RHP Tim Stauffer by agreeing to a one-year, $1.6 million contract. After missing nearly all of 2012 with an elbow injury, Stauffer pitched well out of the bullpen for the Padres in 2013, posting a 3.75 ERA and 1.13 WHIP over 43 appearances. It's possible he'll be given another shot to start in 2014, though San Diego has a bevy of rotation options.
