With Nick Ahmed struggling badly at the plate, Owings could see more playing time at short, or move over there permanently if Ahmed needs time in the minors to work on his offensive game. Owings has posted just a .689 OPS, so he needs to keep up his recent hot streak, but he seems over his slow start to the year.
