Tampa Bay transferred Archer (hip) from the 10-day injured list to the 60-day injured list Monday, radio broadcaster Steve Carney reports.

The Rays had been cryptic about the recurrence of inflammation in Archer's left hip, but his move to the 60-day IL officially rules him out for 2021. Tampa Bay will use the open 40-man roster spot on top pitching prospect Shane Baz, who was recalled from Triple-A Durham ahead of his big-league debut Monday against the Blue Jays at Tropicana Field. Archer is set to become a free agent this winter, and after having another season torpedoed by injuries, he'll likely be forced to settle for a one-year, prove-it deal on the open market.
