Ortiz is not expected to start at first base in any of the team's three games in Los Angeles this weekend, Jason Mastrodonato of the Boston Herald reports.

Manager John Farrell has not played Ortiz in the field at all in his age-40 season and it doesn't sound like the skipper has any intention of doing so, even in a fairly significant series against the Dodgers as the Red Sox look to keep pace in the AL East. After this weekend's set, Boston will have one more road interleague series next month (at San Diego).
