Orioles manager Buck Showalter said Wednesday that Smith's hamstring isn't healing as fast as anticipated, Jon Meoli of the Baltimore Sun reports.

Though Smith was able to take part in some baseball activities earlier this week, it sounds as though he may be at least a few days away from returning to Grapefruit League action. Fortunately for Smith, Showalter noted that the outfielder wasn't dealing with any sort of setback, so it appears he just needs a little extra time to rest up and recover. Once healthy, Smith is expected to handle the larger side of a platoon in right field, though it's not quite clear who he'd share the at-bats with.
