Orioles manager Buck Showalter announced that Joe Saunders will start against the Rangers in Friday's Wild Card game. Showalter was also considering Steve Johnson, but he ultimately decided to go with the veteran. Saunders has pitched well since joining the Orioles, posting a 3.63 ERA and 23/8 K/BB ratio in 44 2/3 innings over eight starts. The Rangers led the AL with a .793 OPS against southpaws this season. The Orioles figure to have all hands on deck in the do-or-die situation.
