The Rangers optioned Thompson to Triple-A Round Rock on Friday.

Thompson hadn't collected a hit since May 2 until Wednesday, when he broke his 17-game hitless streak with a single. The 24-year-old outfielder will likely have to re-discover his swing in the minors before he rejoins the big-league squad. Thompson slashed .301/.352/.471 across 375 plate appearances in Triple-A last season.
