O'Neill went 2-for-3 with an RBI double, another two-bagger and a run in Wednesday's 7-4 Cactus League victory over the Indians.
EDGE Analysis
O'Neill brought home Jay Baum in the sixth with a sharp double to left, bringing his spring average to an even .300 and his RBI total to three. The 21-year-old outfielder is getting his first taste of big league pitching this spring after slashing .293/.374/.508 with 26 doubles, four triples, 24 homers, 102 RBI and 12 stolen bases at Double-A Jackson last season. The powerfully-built O'Neill challenged for the Triple Crown, won the RBI title and earned Southern League MVP honors as well, snagging him the invite to major league camp. Although he's likely to start the 2017 campaign in Triple-A, another effort the caliber of last season's could conceivably earn him a late season cup of coffee with Mariners. "The end game is not Triple-A. The end game is not being the No. 1 prospect in baseball," O'Neill said. "I'm trying to get to the big leagues and be an impact player. That's exactly what I'm going to do."
