O'Neill's stiff back will keep him out of the starting nine for the third day in a row, but his appearance as a pinch hitter in Wednesday's 3-2 win over the Tigers would seem to hint that he's not in much danger of landing on the injured list. Lars Nootbaar will pick up a start in left field Thursday in O'Neill's stead.
