Olt left Saturday's game against the Rockies in the ninth inning after he was struck on the wrist by an Adam Ottavino breaking ball, the Associated Press reports. Olt underwent tests after the game that suggested he avoided any sort of break, but the injury undoubtedly perked up the ears of Cubs fans who have been anxiously awaiting the arrival of superstar third base prospect Kris Bryant. While Bryant's promotion is likely to come in the near future and will almost certainly result in a diminished role for Olt, it doesn't sound like the Cubs will make an immediate roster move because of the injury. Olt, who also hit a solo homer in the third inning of Saturday's game, suggested that he expects to play again "soon," though a return to the lineup for Sunday's series finale against the Rockies might be a tad optimistic. Tommy La Stella or Arismendy Alcantara would likely cover third base in Olt's stead.
