Odorizzi struck out six and did not walk a batter while holding the Red Sox to one run on seven hits over seven innings Monday night.
In a very difficult road matchup at Fenway Park, Odorizzi delivered in a big way to earn his third victory of the season. He's now toting a 32:8 K:BB over 40.2 innings through six starts, helping to shoulder the workload in the Rays' rotation while Drew Smyly and Alex Cobb opened the season on the DL. While he's cruising thus far, Odorizzi has not allowed a home run this season after serving up 20 over 168 innings a year ago, and he's also benefited from a BABIP (.241) that is more than 40 points below his career mark (.284). Even with those underlying blemishes, Odorizzi's improved control has been a big part of his early-season gains (1.8 BB/9).
