O'Day (shoulder) threw a simulated game Friday and manager Buck Showalter said it went well, Jon Meoli of the Baltimore Sun reports.

The sim game was the final test for O'Day and it sounds like he passed with flying colors. Showalter said that if O'Day responds well overnight, he will likely be activated Sunday or Monday. It's hard to imagine O'Day wouldn't return to the back-end mix right away even after the five-plus week layoff.
