Nimmo (neck) is out of the lineup for Thursday's season opener in Washington, Anthony DiComo of MLB.com reports.

Nimmo seemingly demonstrated enough progress during an extended workout Wednesday to avoid going on the 10-day injured list to begin the season, but he'll need at least one more day to recover from a stiff neck. The Mets will keep Starling Marte in right field for Thursday's game and instead shift Mark Canha over from left to cover Nimmo's usual spot in center.
