Strider (6-4) allowed four runs on six hits and two walks while striking out five over 2.2 innings, taking the loss Sunday versus the Mets.
EDGE Analysis
It was announced Strider won't face an innings limit this season, his first as a big-league starter. What could see him lose his spot in the rotation is poor performance, as he's had a couple of poor outings in going 2-2 across his last four starts. In that span, he's allowed 11 runs across 19.1 frames, though he's also posted a 28:6 K:BB. After Sunday's dud, he owns a 3.11 ERA, 1.05 WHIP and 138:34 K:BB through 89.2 innings in 24 appearances (13 starts). The 23-year-old right-hander will look to bounce back next weekend in a projected road start in Miami.

Never have I seen so much confusion and lack of timely and clear information on here or elsewhere, even the Atlanta Braves homepage, than with Spencer Strider this past week. First he was in line for a late-week start. Then he was lined up for Sunday. Then he vanished from being skated the entire week, despite not having pitched since last Sunday. Then he periodically appeared here as a starter late next week left with only what we already knew about a 7-day old post that only told us what we already after his last start. Now Sunday is here, and he pops up as starting tomorrow (at last!).

I know Snitker playing around wildly with his Braves roster is responsible for much of that, but it hurts MLB managers, pitchers involved, and fantasy sports owners and bettors (yes, the latter are fans too, probably among the very most avid). That is one of the few things about Snit I really dislike. People need to know before they buy tickets, plan their schedules, set their teams or place their bets. Spencer Strider is fine physically; he doesn’t need to be on the shelf for a whole week when his team is in a fierce battle with other teams for the best playoff position.

Every win matters at this point. The Braves should give Strider the occasional one start off in the rotation early if they have a good reason, but ANNOUNCE it EARLY and do their level best for everyone to STICK TO IT.
