Nieuwenhuis is starting in left field Sunday, ESPN New York's Adam Rubin reports. Nieuwenhuis is giving Michael Cuddyer a day off. With the off-day Monday, manager Terry Collins could have easily played Cuddyer, but he has opted to give him an extra's rest early in the season to keep him fresh while giving Nieuwenhuis some at-bats.
