Nick Cafardo of the Boston Globe reports that five teams are interested in free agent right-hander Carl Pavano. Pavano's agent, Dave Pepe, said that the Red Sox have "checked in," though that doesn't necessarily mean anything. Pepe reportedly spoke with the Marlins on Tuesday, but the club "didn't seem enthusiastic" about working out a deal. Pavano posted a 6.00 ERA over 11 starts this past season while dealing with a nagging shoulder issue and may struggle to find a guaranteed major league deal.
