Newcomb is scheduled to start Friday's series opener against the Marlins, David O'Brien of The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports.

The 24-year-old earned himself another spot start after turning in an impressive first outing -- he struck out seven and walked two through 6.1 innings of one-run (unearned) ball.
