He did throw 67 of 106 pitches for strikes, but the young lefty had trouble putting batters away when it counted. Newcomb's delivered quality starts in each of his first two appearances in the majors but seems likely to head back to Triple-A Gwinnett with Bartolo Colon (oblique) set to come off the DL next week.
