New York Yankees first baseman Mark Teixeira is expected to miss his third consecutive game Thursday against the Cleveland Indians because of a leg injury, according to New York Newsday. While he is still not expected to land on the disabled list, Teixeira does not have a timetable for return, manager Joe Girardi said. The Yankees initially were unconcerned after Teixeira had to leave Monday's game after fouling a ball off his leg. "It's not a whole lot better. We know it's day-to-day," Girardi said. "Hopefully one day he will come in and really turn the corner." Rookie Greg Bird, who made his second straight start in Teixiera's absence Wednesday, likely will continue to see time at the position after hitting two home runs and driving in four runs. The Yankees enter Thursday in first place in the American League East at 67-52.
