Motte was unconditionally released by the Rockies on Wednesday.

Motte was designated for assignment at the end of March after not making the big-league roster out of spring training, but given his vast major-league experience, it comes as no surprise that he wanted out of the Rockies system rather than reporting to Triple-A. The veteran reliever will look to leverage that experience into a big-league contract soon.
