Moss (hip) was traded to the Indians for prospect Joey Wendle on Monday, Yahoo! Sports' Jeff Passan reports. The return on the deal for Oakland is meager, especially considering Moss was an All-Star in 2014, and has hit 76 home runs over the past three seasons. However, the A's did not want to pay Moss in arbitration. In addition, his lack of defensive value and questions surrounding his ability to return at full strength following offseason hip surgery made Moss somewhat undesirable from Oakland's perspective. If he is healthy at the start of the season, Moss should be given a chance to play on a semi-regular basis, splitting time between first base and DH with Carlos Santana and Nick Swisher, while also being capable of handling a corner outfield spot. For fantasy purposes, Moss goes to a slightly better ballpark, but the biggest question remains his ability to make a full recovery from the surgery to repair his torn right hip labrum.
