Morrison went 1-for-3 with a walk and run scored in Monday's 6-2 loss to the Royals.
EDGE Analysis
The 28-year-old validated manager Kevin Cash's faith during May, a month in which Morrison has raised his average a whopping 131 points to its current figure of .231. He was actually hitting .094 after an 0-for-4 day against the Blue Jays on May 1, before beginning to finally snap out of the worst stretch at the plate of his career. The veteran hit safely in 16 of the subsequent 22 games, and has slashed .343/.446/.486 during the month, along with posting his first three homers of the season. Although the Rays' offense continues in an overall malaise, Morrison's improving bat has helped to make up some of the production that was lost when Logan Forsythe (shoulder) headed to the DL on May 14.
