Morrison hit his first home run -- and first extra-base hit -- of the season Friday, a fifth-inning solo shot against the Twins. It was also the first RBI of the season for Morrison, who has started the season ice cold. Morrison has hit the ball hard at times, but he has little to show for it, thanks in part to a .191 BABIP. He needs to pick it up, though, to keep his job. The Mariners signed Carlos Quentin to a minor-league deal Wednesday to possibly platoon at first base if Morrison's slump continues. Quentin has a May 12 opt-out deadline.
