Mike Pelfrey surrendered four earned runs on eight hits over four innings Tuesday in a loss to the Royals. He struck out four and walked two. Pelfrey's results had been impressive recently as his velocity ticked up: He'd allowed three runs or fewer in seven of his last eight starts coming into this evening. Tonight's start doesn't help his trade value, but Minnesota is surely working the phones hoping to cash Pelfrey (4-9, 5.31 ERA) into a prospect.
