The Cincinnati Reds designated infielder Mike Moustakas for assignment on Thursday to make room on the roster for recently signed catcher Curt Casali. Moustakas, a three-time All-Star, played in 78 games for the Reds last season and hit just .214/.295/.345 with a .640 OPS, seven home runs, 25 RBI, 30 runs scored and two stolen bases in 285 plate appearances.
