Mike Leake allowed four runs on eight hits in just 1 2/3 innings of work in a loss to the Mets on Tuesday.
With the Reds in the hunt for a division crown Reds manager Dusty Baker wasted little time getting Leake out of there, yanking Leake after just 54 pitches. A three-run homer by Daniel Murphy capped the scoring in the Mets' four-run second inning, and Leake was pulled one batter later. It was likely the last start of the regular season for Leake, who finishes with a 14-7 record and 3.37 ERA over 31 starts in what was largely a strong and somewhat surprising showing for the 25-year-old.
